I took this couple to Batsto Village in Hammonton NJ for their engagement session. Batsto is such a unique place for engagement photos. Nestled in the Warton State Forest in the Pinelands, it's a gem of a location. It was used as an iron works and produced a variety of household items such as pots, pans and kettles. During the Revolutionary War, Batsto manufactured supplies for the Continental Army. The family had their personal home on the property and had many manufacturing buildings. The old stone walls, worn wood barns and bridge over the canal all offer great backdrops. When I shot this session, it was springtime and the dogwoods were in full bloom. Absolutely gorgeous! We were able to capture the trees in the background which gave the photos a soft romantic feel. When choosing your wardrobe for an engagement shoot, consider when and where you are photographing. Bright vibrant colors are beautiful for fall, soft whites and creams are great for beach sessions and neutrals always look great allowing the focus to be one you, not your wardrobe. I love that the colors of their outfits here don't compete with background. Her denim jacket matches her fiancee's shirt and her soft white dress keeps it feminine and fun.
